Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) was established in 2018 as a Special Health Authority, bringing together three key organisations for health: the Wales Deanery; NHS Wales’s Workforce Education and Development Services (WEDS); and the Wales Centre for Pharmacy Professional Education (WCPPE). HEIW has a broad range of responsibilities within NHS Wales. This includes the requirement to recruit and provide postgraduate education and training in the areas of: Medical; Dental; Pharmacy; and Optometry. To support this, HEIW has a ‘trainee information database’, which is supplied as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) by a third-party external partner. The purpose of this Prior Information Notice (PIN) is to alert potential suppliers to an opportunity to deliver an online ‘Trainee Platform’ for HEIW. With a priority of replacing our existing ‘trainee information database’ system, this is the first phase of a wider requirement to incorporate 12 internally developed web applications alongside to create a single trainee platform. It is anticipated that HEIW will work in partnership, across a phased, multi-year programme of work to deliver the desired outcome.
