The 0 to 19 (up to 25 years with SEND) Public Health Nursing Service in Lancashire is an integrated service for expectant mothers, children, young people, and their families that offers interventions from the pre-natal stage up to the age of 19, or 25 with SEND.
The Service provides leadership, co-ordination and delivery of the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) - the early intervention and prevention public health programme that lies at the heart of the universal service at a crucial stage of life. It is led and delivered by a Specialist Community Public Health Nursing workforce, who work in partnership with other services. Health visitors and School Nurses are specialist public health nurses (SCPHN) with health visitors leading the 0-5 element of the HCP and school nurses leading the 5-19 (up to 25 with SEND) element.
Delivery of the 0-19 (up to 25 with SEND) Public Health Nursing Service will be offered as a single countywide contract through a single lot. Provided service provision will be equitable and consistent across the county the provider(s) awarded the tender will be permitted to sub-contract the services or operate as a consortium. There is a clear focus within the specification for the provider to integrate with Lancashire County Council services, namely our Early Help offer, and safeguarding teams, NHS services for children and families and the Voluntary, Community & Faith Sector (VCFS).
