This notice is published to advertise a market engagement exercise being conducted by North Tyneside Council (the council). The council wishes to engage with market operators regarding what capacity there will be to process and treat dry recycling, food waste, garden waste and residual waste streams. The council’s existing integrated waste contract will expire in 2027. The contract currently includes: • residual waste treatment • processing of kerbside garden waste • management of the council’s household waste recycling centre (HWRC) • a waste transfer station (WTS). The council has a separate contract for recycling which expires in 2025. Further details are contained in this notice at section 1.7 – Description of the procurement – which sets out the basis on which the council is seeking feedback and views from the market. The date for submission of response is 10th June 2024 and, depending on the information provided, the council may seek to follow up with individual respondents or groups of respondents. Participation in this market engagement exercise is not a requirement for participation in the forthcoming procurement, which shall be formally commenced through publication of a contract notice(s) nearer the time.
