At Network Rail, we are modernising our approach to managing the railway infrastructure. As part of this we need to collect data in near real time from the hundreds of thousands of assets that make up our railway system. We want an intelligent and resilient infrastructure monitoring system that collects, analyses and delivers asset data and insights that our engineering teams can rely on, learn from, identify potential faults, and diagnose the cause of faults that occur. In the last five years, Network Rail has spent over £24 million on data loggers and related equipment used in remote condition monitoring and digital event recording to monitor thousands of track circuits, points operating equipment, relay interlockings, level crossings, cable insulation, points heating, room environment and a range of bespoke assets across Britain’s railway infrastructure. We want this technology to play an increasing role in a modern railway and are interested in understanding the capabilities in the market. We are looking for suppliers to provide hardware, associated equipment and services that can deliver against our requirements.
