Southern Gas Networks plc ("SGN") has a Network Gas Transporter Licence obligation to provide an emergency response service for its Gas Distribution Assets. These distribution assets are predominately polyethylene and metallic gas mains, service pipes and ancillary apparatus, operating at pressures up to and including seven (7) bar, i.e., low-pressure, medium pressure and intermediate pressure mains and services. It should be noted that SGN has a separate Agreement in place dealing with emergencies on its Gas Transmission Assets (i.e., apparatus operating >7 Bar pressure). Incidents of third-party damage or failure of distribution assets are not uncommon and are normally managed by SGN's resources. However, when an emergency occurs on a large diameter, or higher-pressure tier pipe, SGN requires the support and assistance of a specialist Distribution Emergency Support Service Provider to assist and work alongside the SGN team to make safe the emergency situation allowing the SGN team to either undertake a repair or install a short section of replacement main. SGN is therefore considering engaging an experienced and competent Distribution Emergency Support Service Provider (the "Service Provider") to provide a 24/7, 365 days a year, Distribution Emergency Support Service to assist and support SGN throughout the geographic boundary of its licensed network In order for SGN to engage an experienced and competent Service Provider for the services described above, SGN firstly seeking to gain knowledge of any Service Providers experienced in the specified services via this Request for Information via this PIN.
