What is the Family Food Programme? The Family Food Programme is a new service being commissioned by the Public Health team at City of Doncaster Council. It will consist of 1:1 or group support for families during pregnancy or soon after birth, to optimally feed their children through a combination of knowledge building; practical skills and tools; and therapeutic interventions to explore parents’ own relationship with food/body and how these impacts on parenting/feeding style. The purpose of Doncaster Family Food programme is to start working with pregnant woman to ensure that an intervention can be offered before the arrival of the child. Intervening at this early opportunity, would ensure that families have access to information will support their health and wellbeing & give them the skills and knowledge to provide a healthy food environment for their child/ren.
