Leicestershire County Council is currently intended to construct a solar farm at one if its sites based outside the village of Quorn in northern Leicestershire. The site is expected to generate approximately 10,000 MWh of electricity which would be fed directly into the energy grid. The grid connection with Western Power Distribution has been previously secured. The site is expected to become operational in Autumn 2023. The Council is intending to enter into Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with an energy off taker that maximises the benefit to the Council and that secures an income that would support the wider Council activities. This market test exercise is to allow the Council to seeking information on from the industry to help determine the best approach for a PPA and to how maximise the return on its investment in constructing a solar farm. At this stage it is soft market test only and NOT A CALL FOR COMPETITION.
